Buddhist meditation techniques are used for the result of quieting the over-active mind. We understand the levels upon which people function such as the physical, intuitive, intellectual, or emotional. At any given time, we are drawing from one or several levels at the same moment, and probably without knowing which state is motivating our thoughts or actions.

Within this busy state we also have the hard-to-control and mischievous mind doing the work of investigation, goading, teasing, remembering and projecting.

Buddhist meditation techniques are tools that are used to focus the attention on quieting oneself sufficient to feel the vastness within which one exists. This vastness, along with the tiniest atom in your body, are one and the same.

The sensation of universal vastness and atom-sized smallness can be experienced in meditation. When one looks for it, one will never know it. Meditation is a process to wash away the individual grasping and ownership, sufficient to experience the Oneness.

Chanting is a well-known technique that can hold the mind to attention in order detect the Oneness. The well-known Om Mani Padme Hum, often understood by Westerners as a translation into The Jewel is in the Lotus, may be a chant to use to focus the mind.

Watching the breath can be very effective. One can manipulate the breath and inhale or exhale in pattern to further employ the mind and maintaining the attention that is required. One doesn’t want the mind to be busy, one wants the mind to be attentive.

Another Buddhist meditation technique that is effective is to quiet the mind. With practice, one will become aware of when the mind is calming. When this state has been reached, be aware of your presence within the room you sit, then expand this awareness to your house, then your street, then your town, then your county, then state, that country, then Earth, then Galaxy, then Universe, and just keep going.

The time will be well invested in opening the possibilities of reality.

Merkaba meditation is a meditation technique of controlled breathing consisting of eighteen steps. Merkaba means light, spirit and body or the body and spirit wrapped in light. Merkaba is a counter rotating field of light generated by two interposed tetrahedrons. Imagine a three dimensional Star of David. Learning to access your Merkaba can help you achieve greater peace within your self along with achieving a higher plane of existence and the ability to communicate with those that have reached Enlightenment and Transcendence.

The Merkaba meditation will allow you to realign the geometric crystal energy field that is supposed to rotate around you at the speed of light providing you with the ability to align your heart, mind and body together for the greatest results. Most of us have had their energy fields greatly depleted through lack of knowledge and use. By taking a Flower of Life meditation course you will come to know the geometric fields (star tetrahedron), and actually feel them around your body. These fields can be activated through our own breathing.

Using the Merkaba will enable you to reach your Higher Self and experience Divine Love which will allow you to make full use of the energy fields in every day life. There are seventeen steps to the Flower of Life Merkaba course. Each of the seventeen breaths has a different mudra (hand position) and meditation you must hold in your mind. For example, during breath one (inhalation) you are instructed to lightly hold your index finger and thumb together while not touching the other fingers to anything and having your palms up. While doing this you are to open your hear to love for all life and be aware of the male tetrahedron. There are similar instructions for the remaining sixteen breaths. To fully appreciate and learn Merkaba meditation you need the services of a trained facilitator.

Buddhist Culture is known as one of the oldest cultures in the world. It’s more than twenty-five centuries old. The ideals and idea of Buddhists have guided innumerable people around the globe. Buddhism culture is principally related to the knowledge of “Siddhartha Gautama” popularly known as “Buddha”. The names of two most important branches of Buddhism are “Theravada” and “Mahayana”. In the ancient times people did not use the statues of Buddha for worship. Instead, they preferred to symbolize the Buddha. Some basic Buddhism symbols are Buddha’s footprint, stupa, dharma wheel and the lotus. As Buddhism ideas spread around the globe, it also helped Buddhism symbols to reach many new and different people.

The most common Buddhism symbol is the Buddha’s footprint. According to Buddhists these footprints of the Buddha symbolize the bodily occurrence of the Lord. These images were reproduced from ancient stones at Bodh Gaya, India. It is the place of Buddha’s enlightenment. This Buddhism symbol has some more symbols within it like swastikas, lotuses and dharma-wheels. These footprints exist in many countries like India, China, Japan, Singapore and Sri Lanka. According to traditions, the legend of Buddhists say that after the Buddha attained enlightenment, his foot created an impression in the pebble where he stepped.

Another Buddhism symbol is stupa. The basic meaning of stupa is “heap”. It is a structure like knoll which contains Buddhist leftovers. So in this way these stupas are very holy for these people. These stupas are vitally made up of five constituent parts. Each part has its own meaning and representation. There is a square base in stupa which represents earth. The hemispherical part represents water. The conical portion represents fire. There is a crescent moon which is the symbol of air and the dissolving point as well as the circular disc which represents space.

The Lotus and the Dharma-wheel are the other parts of these symbols. The lotus is deep-rooted in mud however the blossom is open in the sun. It appears very good-looking and fragrant. In Buddhism the lotus represents the real character of beings, who ascend through “samsara” (“samsara” is a process of defining the cycle of birth, death and rebirth in Buddhism and Hinduism) into the simplicity and magnificence of enlightenment. Dharma-wheel contains eight spokes. They represent the eightfold path. According to traditions, it symbolizes the Buddha’s spinning the Wheel of Law or reality.

Some other important Buddhism Symbols are various colors. The special five colors are white, yellow, red, blue and green. Like white color is considered to include an extremely chilly quality, as in snow, or a very burning quality, such as a flaming metal. Either can threaten life as well as it reminds us of bereavement with the ending of things. It also represents cleanliness, holiness and purity. Moreover it also tells us to lead out further than the dimness of bondage. These colors symbolize a condition of mind. It is well-believed that spiritual transformations can be achieved with the help of meditation on these different colors.

The oldest religion on this planet is Hinduism. It has no beginning and this religion moved ahead with recorded history. It has no individual founder. It is a spiritual religion which leads the devotee to experience the existence of God from heart and soul. It is a very vast religion and Hinduism beliefs are as old as Hinduism religion. However on the whole it has these nine beliefs.

1. Hindus first belief is in the theology of the “Vedas”. It is the most antique scripture in the world. “Veda” is a word which has come from Sanskrit language. The basic meaning of Veda is knowledge. According to Hinduism beliefs these primeval hymns are God’s speech and the foundation of Sanatana Dharma (a sub-religion in Hinduism), the everlasting belief which has neither starting nor endings.

2. The next is the faith on only one supreme power that is both inspiring and immanent. Hinduism believes that there is merely one premier supreme called “Brahman”. However it does not say to worship a particular deity. There are millions of gods and goddesses in Hinduism belief and everyone is on the behalf of the numerous aspects of Brahman. Therefore, this faith is characterized by the multiplicity of deities. The most primary Hindu deities are the Trinity of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva.

3. Hindu people believe that this world undergoes endless cycles of creation, perpetuation and termination.

4. People following Hindu religion believe in karma (right action). Whatever good or bad things you do in your life you will get back according to that. It is with the help of your karma through which you create your own destiny.

5. Hinduism belief says that divine beings continue living in an invisible world and the temple worship as well as individual devotionals creates a communication between you and God.

6. Hinduism believes in the reincarnation system. It evolves through many births until all karmas have been resolute and moksha is the process of getting free of the cycle of rebirth.

7. The followers of Hinduism believe that you need a spiritually awakened teacher in your life. They are able to tell you the way to get free from the cycle of rebirth.

8. Hinduism belief advises that every life in this world is holy and each life should be loved. That’s the reason they believe in the practice of no injury to anyone. This is known as ahinsa.

9. The followers of Hinduism believe that no particular religion tells the only path to salvation over each and every one but all the authentic religious ways are related to God. Every religion tells us to give respect to others so everyone is equal.

So these are the basic Hinduism beliefs however it is varied and wide. The essential thoughts of this religion are based on the principles written by saints of ancient times.

Tibetan Art is rich and beautifully done as well as some of the most diverse cultural and religious artwork outside of the Catholic Church. There are auspicious (good) symbols, cosmological (astrological) symbols and many animals both real and mythical are part of the Tibetan panoply of symbols. There are a number of ritual weapons and a whole host of ritual hand gestures.

There are prayer wheels, prayer flags and the ever present Kalachakra which is found in virtually every Buddhist temple in the world. It is also known as the “Ten Fold” logo. This refers to the outer world, the body in its whole form and inner parts and the practice of Kalachakra. It is probably one of the most complex tantric systems in Buddhism. You will find prayer flags at temples, homes and businesses in areas that are dominated by the
Buddhist faith.

Prayer flags will have many different mantras, prayers and auspicious (good) symbols on them. The premise is that as the flags blow, the prayers are spread around the world by the wind. In fact the “Wind Horse” is printed on a large number of prayer flags. Prayer flags usually come in five colors representing the following – blue (sky), red (fire), white (clouds), green (water), and yellow (earth).

The Lung-Ta or Wind Horse is a creature from pre-Buddhist times that was able to use the power of the wind and strength of the horse to transport anyone’s prayers from this world to the heavens. Accompanying the Wind Horse on a typical prayer flag will be the Four Dignities – Dragon, Garuda, Snow Lion and Tiger. The Dragon represents gentle power, Garuda represents wisdom, Snow Lion represents fearless joy and Tiger is confidence.

Whether you are a Buddhist seeking Tibetan symbols and motifs for your own use or you just enjoy the intricate artwork of Tibetan symbols and motifs you cannot go wrong in getting a Wind Horse prayer flag.

There are numerous religions in the world. Each religion has various symbols which contain a specific meaning in that religion. These symbols can be in the form of artworks, acts, events and natural phenomena. Religious symbols have a history dating back more than 100,000 years. The studies of these symbols are either around the globe or they can have some specific boundaries which depend upon the type of religion.

Christianity has basically three symbols. These symbols are Ichthys (fish), Christian cross and Patriarchal cross. Ichthys is an ancient Greek word meaning fish. It means “Jesus Christ, God’s son, savior”. Jesus compares the judgment of God on who will go to heaven and who will go to hell at the end of this world to fishermen cataloging out their catch, keeping the superior fish and throwing the terrible fish back into the ocean. The Christian-cross is a well known religious symbol around the world. The cross is a type of crucifix which does not have Jesus’ body. During the earlier two centuries people didn’t use the cross as a symbol of worship. They used the fish symbol for that. There are many types of crosses like the Andrew Cross, Anthony’s Cross, Canterbury Cross etc. The patriarchal cross is very similar to the Christian Cross. It is very similar to the Latin cross which has a minor crossbar located on the top of the main one.

The three basic symbols of Hinduism are Omkar, Lotus flower and Swastika. The syllable “Aum” was first described in the Hindu holy books called Upanishads. The word “Omkar” is sited at the opening of many holy Hindu books. The lotus symbol has been a godly symbol in the Asian community. It represents a virtue and sexual purity. In Hindu religion God Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi are repeatedly portrayed with pink lotus. Goddess Saraswati is portrayed with white lotus. The word swastika came from the Sanskrit language. It is considered as a lucky object. This mark made on different things considers the bringing of good luck.

In Islam there are fundamentally four basic symbols. The names are Rub el Hizb, Star and crescent which is also called the ottoman symbol, name of Allah and Kalima/Shahadah. The Rub el Hizb is an Islamic symbol which is found on various flags and emblems. It was initially used in Quran. Rub el Hizb can be seen in current arms of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. The Star and crescent symbol is widely used as a symbol of Islam nowadays. Many Muslim countries like Pakistan, Turkey and Algeria use this symbol in their flags. The name of Allah is a general Arabic word of God. According to Muslim culture the correct name of God is Allah. Shahadah is the Muslim declaration that they believe in one God. It also shows that they accept Mohammad as their prophet.

So in this way each religion has its own symbols and meaning. It possesses a deep meaning in their respective religion. People use these symbols as a medium of connectivity with God.

According to traditions of Tibet, beads are used to brawl with devils and bad spirits. The colors and designs in the beads have their own symbolic meaning. It is also very important for feng shui because these colors stand for a number of diverse key elements.

Tibetan beads are as old as Tibetan Culture. It’s more than 2000 years since these beads came into existence. People in Tibet believe that these beads protect them from various harms. They say that these beads take a curse on themselves. They also believe that beads chose their owner themselves. They do not stay with a person who does not follow the principles of God. These beads were originated from the Himalaya Mountains and Tibet.

It’s thousands of years ago when Dzi (pronounced as “zee”) beads came to the Tibetan Culture. Dzi is a gemstone which is a treasure of magic power. It comes with different types of symbols in the stone with different sizes. The origin of Dzi is the land of mythical Buddhist lamas. Most of them belong to Tibet. This stone contains the healing power. It often brings prosperity, good fortune, wealth and good health to the owner. It protects you from misfortunes, sickness and sudden death. It keeps you away from negative thoughts and energies. Dzi is a shining stone usually in the form of a circle with certain wave patterns. The different patterns in Dzi beads are for different purposes. There is a one-eyed Dzi bead which people use to increase their wisdom. Two-eyed Dzi is for your good love relationship. Nine-eyed Dzi beads are to take the blessings. It also gives you good luck and removes obstacles in the journey of life. It protects you from misfortunes and negativities. A thirteen-eyed Dzi bead is for the promotion of serenity and tranquility and a fifteen-eyed Dzi gives you heaven’s luck. It gives you a smooth life without obstructions. A twenty-one eyed Dzi helps you to fulfill your wishes and enhance your fame and fortune.

These Dzi beads can be used by everyone because they are not for a particular religion. The main purpose of these beads is to help human beings. Dzi beads can be set up as a fraction of dissimilar ornaments although in their beginning they were primarily added to costume jewelry and it can also be found on some women’s ornaments. Jewelry has a major importance in Tibetan life because it shows the status of a person in society.

Prayer beads are also an important part of Tibetan beads. They count each bead while doing their prayers. It reduces anxiety and it also brings calm to the nerves. These beads are made up of wood, marble and various types of polished stones. Tibetan Buddhists use 108 traditional breads which is equal to the number of “mantras” (mantras are the sentences of prayers) used by them in their religion.

If you are trying to find spiritual symbols then you need not go anywhere. You are surrounded by spiritual symbols and they are touching your life either directly or indirectly. Still most people do not understand this fact because they do not have a lot of knowledge about it. Each spiritual symbol has its own meaning and representation. Anything related to our spirit generates curiosity. We are always eager to know how these things are affecting our life because they are not visible. If we talk about spiritual symbols then some questions come to our mind and this is natural. What is the meaning of spiritual symbols? How does it make any difference in our life? Do they really exist or are they a myth? However I would like to mention that the upshot of spiritual symbols can only be felt. We are not always able to see it physically. Our inner spirit talks to us with the help of these symbols without using a word. With the help of these spiritual symbols our inner spirit is able to communicate with our mind. It tells us the difference between a right path and the wrong path in our life. You can find spiritual symbols in art, architecture and various religions.

Ever since primeval times people have used art to convey life on earth. There is also the utilization of easy shapes like spiritual symbols. Some simple shapes like sphere, square and triangles have different meanings. The sphere is the representation of corona on the top of angels. In view of the fact that a sphere does not have any starting and ending point, it therefore represents infinity. The square is the representation of shelter, hardness and protection. The triangle is the sign of holy trinity. Directing up it represents the rise up to paradise and directing down the triangle represents grace sliding down from paradise.

In the proportions of a lot of structures particularly blessed ones it was supposed that the utilization of certain geometric plans would fill up the construction by resources of blessed energy. Tombs were in the early days, the passage to the afterlife. They were constructed with care thus the departed would have everything that was required on the journey between the material world and the afterlife. Symbolism was cautiously selected to make sure that the journey would be safe. Stone circles were utilized as astrological markers, for worship, and represented the outer space observation or mother earth. Churches as well as temples are constructed to grip the holy knowledge and to motivate religious living. They tell the stories of religiously momentous actions in the paintings, sculptures and good-looking stained glass windows. These structures were constructed to represent the space as a whole.

Similarly we have different religions in the world and each religion has its own spiritual symbols. The Bible is full of spiritual symbols in the form of numbers. According to The Bible numbers can be used as the measurement of distance, time, age and quantity. Like the number 1 tells that what is genuine and what is perfect. Similarly number 2 tells that kindness and truth are tied together and so on. In the same way different religions have different spiritual symbols.

Anger: Wisdom for Cooling the Flames by Thich Nhat Hanh, a Vietnamese Buddhist monk, is an excellent book for any American who drives. With road rage increasing and tensions rising in homes across America due to the financial mess due to falling retail sales and mass layoffs the ten verses in Anger should be required reading for all adults and most teenagers.

Although Hanh is a Buddhist monk the book is not all about the whole meditate until you are healed self help pap served up by many holistic and alternative practitioners. Hanh does have his moments that are rather ho hum. (If you are mad at someone go tell them, don’t let it fester and get worse. But remember to keep your temper when conversing). The main tenet in the book is that when we get angry we are really angry with ourselves not the person we perceive ourselves to be angry with.

He was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize by Martin Luther King, Jr. in 1967 for his efforts to end the hostilities in Vietnam through non violent civil disobedience and the traditional meditation techniques of Buddhism. He was exiled and now lives in France and has written over seventy five books of varying themes including poetry, prayer and prose. His writings are not overly Buddhist in flavor but appeal to a worldwide audience of all faiths.

In Anger, Thich Nhat Hanh offers ten verses to help you curb your anger. All of them are great examples of how we should treat anger in our every day lives. One deals with understanding the nature of your anger. Once you understand the source of your anger you can embrace it and actually deal with it so that it no longer angers you. Another is to remember that although you may be angry always remember you have love within you.

Chakra Balancing Meditation is designed to focus on your seven energy centers to focus and balance them to remove any blockages that are causing issues with your health. I will detail the actual meditation steps in the Reiki way to open and clear your energy centers. This will balance your higher frequency energy and help to release any negative energy from your body.

Designate a place in your home where you will be completely undisturbed for at least 30 minutes at any time. Sit in a comfortable chair and close your eyes while focusing on regulating your breathing in a rhythmic way. Begin your chakra balancing meditation by starting with the first chakra. Your first focus will be on your base chakra or Root – visualize a RED clockwise spinning ball. Concentrate on breathing in red and breathing out red for two to three minutes. You want to see the energy flowing from the spinning red ball down through your legs into the earth (grounding you).

The second chakra is the Sacral chakra. Envision an orange ball spinning clockwise as well and breathe orange in and out for two to three minutes. The third chakra is the Solar Plexus designated by a bright yellow clockwise spinning ball again spending two to three minutes breathing yellow.

The fourth chakra is the Heart chakra. Use the image of a bright green ball spinning clockwise while breathing green rhythmically for the aforementioned time span. The fifth chakra is the Throat chakra – imagine a bright blue ball spinning clockwise again and breathing regularly for the two to three minute span. Make sure you are seeing the blue ball’s energy entering at the Throat chakra and flowing out each arm.

The sixth chakra is the Third Eye chakra. This will utilize an indigo ball spinning clockwise as your focus. Your brow is the focus for the two to three minutes you are breathing the indigo energy in and out. The final chakra is the Crown chakra with a violet clockwise spinning ball focusing your attention to create an image of a violet lotus blooming on your Crown chakra.
